Store still needs the wire

Short on the channel: Store still needs the wire.

current hypothesis open

Store is a verb under pressure — buffering, holding energy — not a disappearing act for the physical delivery system. This page names that cut beside Power as a Primitive. It does not invent megawatts, ELCC percentages, ISO statistics, FERC outcomes, or tariffs.

Store as a verb

current On Power as a Primitive, Store names buffering under pressure. The sentence already on that page is that buffers change response speed and do not erase the system. Store does not, by itself, delete Locate, Price, or Acquire against a physical system. Locate still asks where power can be had. Price still asks how scarcity and location already govern behavior. Acquire still asks who, or what, is the counterparty. Watts still come from a physical system.

Buffer ≠ abolished wire

current A battery beside a load is not automatically a full substitute for network service or adequacy credit. Buffering under pressure holds energy. It does not, by itself, retire the wire that still has to deliver watts. That cut is the claim. It is not a count of sites, and it is not a finding that a region, a utility, or a proceeding has abolished network service because a battery is on the one-line.

hypothesis A battery beside a load can change when and how power is used. “Can” is the claim. Not “does,” on every site, and not a measured finding that the change has retired the delivery system. This note did not test a battery, a site, or a control.

Adjacent, and not this page’s lead: the nameplate note stays on sticker versus stress credit. The firm-connect note stays on certainty versus the asterisk. Those companions are already on the exhibition. This page does not merge them into the lead, and it does not retag them as a finding about the wire.

How much rests on store

open How much of a large-load story can honestly rest on on-site storage, and how much still needs the wire, stays open. This page does not assert a portfolio recipe. It names no mix, no share, and no site that has settled the question. Curiosity over prophecy includes leaving the amount blank.

Costume risk

hypothesis Treating a storage sticker or a green claim as proof the wire went away is costume in the exhibition sense — an editorial pressure-test, not a census of projects. The hypothesis is the shape of that reading. It is not a count of headlines, and it is not a finding that every storage claim does it. This page does not score which arrangement is greener. The pressure stays on whether the wire is still in the sentence.

What would make this wrong

That humility beat is the one EXPLORE marks as what could make a frame wrong. Beat 02 on that page is what is already true. This note tries to stay inside that pair — curiosity, not prophecy.

Store, under pressure

On Power as a Primitive, Store names buffering under pressure. Buffers change response speed; they do not erase the system. Locate, Price, and Acquire stay on that page, against a physical system. This note is the narrower cut: a buffer is not a disappearing act for the wire. The physics note already says storage buffers and does not abolish the grid. The flexibility note already says flex is not free firm capacity. Those companions are already on the exhibition. They are not a portfolio recipe, and this page does not retag them as one. The longer claim-labeled draft is the Power essay.

Not a forecast. Not a product. Curiosity over prophecy. Intake is not open. This note invents no megawatts, no ELCC percentage, no ISO statistic, no FERC outcome, and no tariff.

Where criticism belongs

If Store on a given site really does retire the wire, or if a battery beside a load never changes when power is used, that is the correction. Pushback preferred over applause. There is no comment box, membership, or mailing list on this note. Research intake is not open.
