This week’s question is how much a machine can decide on its own when electricity, interconnection, and capacity are shared, and what still has to be stopped by physics or by a person. The threads below are already written. They are not a result, a membership, or a field trial. Novelty is unestablished.

What is being looked at now

These four threads are already on the site. They are the current reading, not a forecast and not a claim that anyone has enrolled to work them. Intake is not open. You do not have to start here.

01 · Current framing · not a measurement

Power as a primitive

Power as a primitive is five verbs: locate, price, acquire, store, optimize. It is not a claim that power replaces money. On the Power page, Store names buffering under pressure. Buffers change response speed. They do not erase the system.

open How much of a large-load story can honestly rest on on-site storage, and how much still needs the wire, stays open. This layer states no megawatts, no tariff, and no portfolio.

What would make it wrong. Store read as “grid optional forever,” or storage dismissed as never useful. The wrong-ifs are on the note.

02 · Metaphor under pressure · not a dispatch claim

The electronic governor

Governor means more than one thing. A feedback loop that holds a setpoint is not the same sentence as a person who can stop the machine. The governor note says the governor is a queue, not a swarm. ACK, HOLD, and LOG are desk moves in the exhibition, not proof that a queue makes automation safe.

not established The longer note pressure-tests setpoint, envelope, and who holds the veto. It is not a claim that AI already dispatches the bulk power system. Pilot 2 is not on the channel. No player is shown for it.

What would make it wrong. A queue read as proof of safety, or a price read as the same sentence as delivery. Physics can still veto.

03 · Open · pilot not on the channel

Whether a machine can pay its own electric bill

The slogan “a machine pays its own electric bill” is mostly a negative result: a meter, an account, a legal person, and a payment rail. A blockchain is often unnecessary. The note pressure-tests the slogan against that stack. What stays open is who the customer of record is. It does not say machines should become customers.

open A wallet on a screen is not the account the meter thinks is buying. Who that account names stays open. Not a legal opinion. The longer pilot “Can a Machine Pay Its Own Electric Bill?” is not on YouTube. This page does not fake a player.

What would make it wrong. A published tariff, CIS practice, or retail rule that already names a non-human as customer of record and payment party without a legal-person shell. That correction is not on file here.

04 · Binding line · not a lab result

Agency that depends on watts

No watts → no agency. That line is already on the exhibition. The companion does not add a measurement, a protocol, or a product. The essay’s reminder: intelligence without energy is decorative, and talk of machine economic participation has to pass through power systems that already exist before it earns the word agency.

hypothesis If “no watts” is the wrong cut — if a machine can sustain the agency in question with no energy path at all — that is the correction. This page did not run that test.

Held open beside it. How much can we safely decide locally? Novelty unestablished. No field trial. Intake closed.

Honest frame. Current reading of pages already published · curiosity over prophecy · not a product, token, signup, forecast, or field trial. Not IBM-affiliated.
